As 2019 draws to an end, we take time to reflect on our seafaring roots and the generations of fishermen who worked the waters of the North Atlantic before us. While many things have changed in the seafood industry over the years, the most important remain unchanged – our values.

Blue Harvest Fisheries was founded in New Bedford, Massachusetts - a city built upon generations of fishermen who had deep connections to our New England waters and a strong respect for the local fisheries.

Their values still resonate with us today. 100% of our sea scallops, ocean perch (Acadian redfish), haddock and Atlantic pollock are sustainably harvested from MSC-certified fisheries. And our catch is all locally harvested – the groundfish from Georges Bank and the Gulf of Maine to the scallops from waters off the coast of New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.

As stewards of the New England fisheries, we have a responsibility to the local communities. Our scallops and groundfish are harvested by Blue Harvest vessels and approved third party vessels. All these vessels are based and maintained in New Bedford and crewed by local fishermen.

We believe in the power of a positive experience. At Blue Harvest, we focus on the best possible customer experience and maintain a dedicated, hands-on approach every step of the way. That includes our commitment to food safety and quality. Our waterfront processing plant in New Bedford is SQF Level 3 certified by the Safe Quality Food Institute, the international gold-standard for food quality and safety. And because we manage the catch, all our products are 100% traceable throughout the entire supply chain.

We’re passionate about seafood because we recognize the wide range of benefits that come from a seafood-rich diet. Scallops, as well as haddock, ocean perch, and Atlantic pollock, are all great sources of lean, low-fat protein, and contain many key vitamins and heart-healthy nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids.

Protecting the marine environment. Creating economic opportunities in our communities. Ensuring the safety and quality of our seafood products. We honor the values of the past as we look forward to building the future of seafood.
